Wanna be? Plan to be.

Rocket boyWe've all met someone who might be called a 'Wanna be'. You know the type – someone who is full of talk about how they're going to be a film star, rocket scientist, or world-class footballer, but you know is never going to do anything about it.

If you want to take control of where you're going, you need a plan.

Thinky girlGood plans can include ideas about who to talk to, what subjects and exam choices to make, hobbies and interests to follow, and what holiday jobs or work experience to do. Everyone finds they have to change their plans as they go along, so you also have to think about what your 'Plan B' might be if your first plan doesn't work out.

To make a good plan, you need to find out as much as possible. It helps to ask teachers, talk to friends and family, read books, and use computer programs like those in the Careersoft product range.

Having a dream is really good. But for a dream to have a chance of becoming real, you have to think about how you're going to make it happen. That's why at Careersoft we say, "Wanna be? Plan to be."
