LessonStart
LessonStart is a series of short, two or three-minute
activities/puzzles that will get your lesson off to a flying
start.
By using an interactive whiteboard (IWB), or simply a projector and screen, students are encouraged to focus on the front of the room, be involved in the activity and get ready to engage with the lesson.
Each of the two LessonStart modules contains
over twenty different activities.
Each activity works as an introduction to a
lesson, and has a follow-up question to engage
the class in some discussion.
Types of activity include uncovering pictures of people at work by removing jigsaw pieces, drag and drop cloze tests, matching sounds to jobs, and odd-one-out picture puzzles.
Who will benefit from LessonStart?
The Careers Introduction module of LessonStart can be used with mixed ability classes from Y7 to Y10.
The Careers Basic module is slightly easier and has been designed with the needs of less able students in mind.

Module 1 Careers Introduction
Designed for use with your mixed ability classes. Activities involve exploring job groups, tools for the job, job descriptions, odd job out and related subject links.
Module 2 Careers Basics
The content here is more suited to younger students, and those with some learning difficulties. Activities involve tools for the job, where do people work?, job descriptions, odd job out and sounds of work.
