LessonStart
LessonStart is a series of short, two or three-minute
activities/puzzles that will get your lesson off to a flying
start. By using an interactive whiteboard (IWB), or simply
a projector and screen, students will be able to focus on
the screen at the front of the room, be involved in the
activity and prepare themselves mentally for the
forthcoming lesson.
There are several versions of five different types of activities in each LessonStart module, over twenty different activities in total. Each activity can stand alone as an introduction to a lesson and each activity has a follow-up question to engage the class in some discussion.
Activities include revealing pictures of people at work by removing jigsaw pieces and guessing the job title, drag and drop cloze tests, odd one out picture puzzles and several others.
LessonStart can be used directly from the Internet or can be supplied on CD for installation to your network.
Who will benefit from LessonStart?
The Careers Introduction module of LessonStart can be used with mixed ability classes from Y7 to Y10.
The Careers Basic module is slightly easier and has been designed with the needs of less able students in mind.
A puzzle can often be used as a method of gaining the attention of a class, especially an activity that is well designed and involves some interaction.
