Shockwave Player mis-reports as 'missing'
Issue
After installing or upgrading to Adobe Shockwave Player v10.1.1r16 or later, ani-MODs wrongly reports that Shockwave Player version 8.5 or higher is not installed, and directs you to the Requirements page.
Explanation
With version 10.1.1r16 of Shockwave Player, Adobe broke the way in which it can be detected within a web page. ani-MODs used the Adobe-recommended approach to Shockwave Player detection, but this now fails with the latest Shockwave Player release from Adobe.
Solution
Later versions of ani-MODS use a different way of detecting Shockwave player, which fixes this issue. Check to see that you are using the latest version of ani-MODS.
The recommended way of fixing this issue is to upgrade to the latest ani-MODS content. Here's how.
You can also choose just to update your existing installation of ani-MODS. This fixes the Shockwave detection issue, but does not update your content. To update your existing installation rather than update to the latest version, right-click this AnimodsShockwavePatcher.exe link and choose to download the file. Then run that file on the computer on which ani-MODS is installed. For a tell-tale of the patcher having done its work (it takes just a fraction of a second to run), look for the file called AniMODSLicensing.exe in the 'licence' folder of your ani-MODS installation. Before the patch is applied, the icon for this file will be a red hand. After the patch, it will be a yellow circle in a blue box.
Adobe version detector
You can check which version of Shockwave Player you are running by using the Test Adobe Shockwave & Flash Players page on the Adobe website.
