Getting to know Jed part 4 (of six). To introduce students to other search facilities in Jed.
Context
When using Jed, students need to understand that the program has some ‘fun’ ways into it, via top ten lists and the job of the day. The job records can also be searched by subject.
Learning outcomes
Students will understand that Jed can match their favourite subject to job titles.
Level
Average and below average ability students.

This activity contributes to the following learning outcomes, KS3, KS4 and Post-16 learning outcomes 8 and 10.Starter
Ask the class to suggest jobs where an interest in Geography might be useful. Jed can suggest even more and can show how other subjects can be useful in work.
Main
The activity sheet takes the student through the ‘Subject search’ as well as the ‘Top ten’ search and the job of the day.
Plenary
Ask the students to discuss some of the jobs that came up in their subject searches and how the subject might be useful in that job.
Extension Activity
Students could prepare information sheets about jobs that match a particular subject. Once prepared a copy could be put on the notice board in that subject room.
