We produce regular newsletters, updates and briefings about what's happening here at Careersoft and in the wider world of CEIAG. The most recent of these can be found in the news section of our website.
Older newsletters, such as the one below, contain interesting stories, however some of the information contained within them may be out of date. Please check any information carefully before making a decision based on it.
JED and Higher Ideas updated for the new academic year
Here at Careersoft we have been busy updating the Job Explorer Database and Higher Ideas. We’ve revised and updated all 800+ jobs (2200 career titles) in JED, and added over 60 new jobs and 50 new videos and picture sets. And all the videos are now bigger and even better quality than before.
We've been busy with Higher Ideas too, which now has all the new course data for 2012 entry on 42,000 degree-level courses across the UK.
If you're a JED or Higher Ideas subscriber, you should have received your new 2011/12 DVDs. If not, please let us know.
If you use the internet versions, you don't need to do anything as this gets updated for you automatically.
If you're not a subscriber yet, get in touch and we’ll be pleased to send you a free trial.
Linking between the Job Explorer Database (JED) and Higher Ideas
Many careers need a degree, and degrees can lead to lots of careers. That’s why JED and Higher Ideas are designed to link together when you have a licence for both.
When looking at a graduate-level job in JED, the ‘training & tips’ section in JED includes lots of information about degrees relevant for this job.
If you’re licensed for Higher Ideas too, you can click through from JED to Higher Ideas and find out more about where you can do those courses. Higher Ideas can tell you where you can study, what options and combinations you can do those courses in, and the UCAS codes for each course.
The links work the other way too. When searching on careers in Higher Ideas, you can click through to JED to get lots more information about that career. JED can even show you things like pictures and videos about that job.
New edition of Cybervisit
Cybervisit is a team-based careers computer game where memory, chance, and risk all play their part. Use it to introduce CEG topics like types of work, workplace organisation, and finding the job that suits you.
All the information in Cybervisit has been fully revised and updated this year for recent changes in working practices and legislation.
Install or internet
Careersoft’s products are easy to install. Or you can use them from the internet, and then you don’t have to install or update anything, ever.
Using them from the internet means there’s no installation required and you always have the latest version (we update it).
Installing them means they will work even when you don’t have an internet connection, and you can use localising to add your own JED content.
For a step-by-step guide, including how to create your own private link for licensed access on the internet, see www.careersoft.co.uk/Internet
